Citizens wishing to travel to the United States must apply for a B2 visa for tourist trips, holidays, or family visits; a B1 visa for business meetings, conferences, fairs, or commercial contracts; and an F1 student visa for academic education. If standard appointment dates extend to later months, an "Expedite Request" can be made through the system for applicants with urgent humanitarian, medical, or commercial reasons. To benefit from this right, a standard appointment must first be made for the earliest available date, and then official documents proving the urgent situation (e.g., an acceptance letter from a hospital in the US, an international court summons, or official correspondence documenting irrecoverable commercial losses) must be uploaded to the system. If the consular officers find the reason sufficient, they may move the interview date forward by a few days; however, insufficient or unfounded requests are directly rejected. Upon completion of the interview, the applicant is verbally informed about the status of their case. If the application is approved, the passport is retained, and after visa stamping, it is delivered to the selected PTT branch or address within a few business days. However, if the consulate requires additional security review or document verification, the applicant may be issued a letter for "Administrative Processing" (221g) under section 221(g). Since the administrative processing period can take from a few weeks to several months depending on the applicant's technical expertise, industry of employment, or name similarities, it is recommended to start the application planning well before the travel date.
