Block Marmara Marble
How Many Types of Marble Are There?
Marbles are generally stones formed by the metamorphism of limestones and dolomitic limestones under heat and pressure, recrystallization, and consequently, acquiring a new structure. All types, such as Marmara block and Marmara marbles, are known as marble models of any rock that can be cut and polished industrially and have commercial value. In addition, petrographically, marbles are a mosaic where calcite crystals of roughly massive, uniform grain size grow without leaving any voids between them.
Marmara Marble Properties
Marble types commonly known and used today include; classic marble, travertine, onyx, and granite. Among these, marble includes stones that are fully crystallized through metamorphism. Their colors are generally white and light gray, and they are frequently used in all desired areas as Marmara block and marbles. These products contain many foreign substances in their composition, while onyx and travertines consist only of CaCO3 in their structure. Marmara marble products are one of the marble types that emit and reflect light in the most scattered and directional ways due to their milky white color and surface gloss. It should also be known that due to the semi-transparent surface properties of Marmara block and marbles, light is scattered from the layers beneath the surface and returns to the surface in a short time with complex light interactions.
